Bob's Chapter
A Baby Pig and Fluffy the Wandering Cat
told by Robert Ray Guild
Robert recalled receiving a baby pig from a neighbor as a child. The family raised it in a pen behind the garage, greased it, and rode it before Dad eventually sold it. He also remembered a white cat named Fluffy, which stayed with them a long time and repeatedly returned from days away looking beat up and ragged. His own children later had a dog, a hamster, and some fish.
In the family's own words
As a child one of our neighbors gave us a baby pig. We raised it in a pen out behind the garage. Can’t remember its name but we greased it and rode it. Eventually, Dad sold it. The only other pet, I remember, was a white cat named Fluffy. I don’t know who gave it to us but we had it a long time. It would disappear for days at a time but would always show up beat up and ragged looking. My kids had a dog, a hamster, and some fish.
