Carol recalls Elvis Presley as The King and a teenage idol whose hip movements upset parents. She lists favorite songs by Elvis Presley, Tab Hunter, Everly Brothers, Paul Anka, Debbie Reynolds, Pat Boone, Bobby Darin, and Neil Sedaka. Oh! Carol became a hit after she graduated from high school and remained a favorite because it included her name; it was the only 45 rpm record she still owned.

Elvis Presley, of course. Rock and Roll started in the 50’s and he was The King. Parents didn’t like him because he swiveled his hips while he sang, but he was every teenager’s idol. I liked his Heartbreak Hotel, Don’t Be Cruel, Hound Dog, All Shook Up, and Jailhouse Rock. Tab Hunter—Young Love. Everly Brothers—Bye, Bye Love Paul Anka—Put Your Head On My Shoulder. Debbie Reynolds—Tammy. Pat Boone—Love Letters In The Sand. Bobby Darin—Dream Lover, Mack The Knife. Neil Sedaka—Oh! Carol (This was a hit after I graduated from high school. Since my name is in the title, it was always a favorite. In fact, it is the only 45 rpm record I still own.)
