Dee's Chapter
A Loving Toast to Bob
told by Delores Ann Guild Comstock
Dee celebrates Robert Ray Guild in a playful, affectionate poem recalling his homemade wine, snow igloo, marriage to his high school sweetheart, dancing with Sue, successful business, coast-to-coast travels, and welcoming home. She praises his helpfulness and loyalty while teasing him about golf, gardening, and pistachios, closing with a wish that he remarry and a toast in his honor.
In the family's own words
Robert Ray Guild you have reaped what you have sown. A river in your back yard. Beautiful, peaceful and all your own.
Original and handsome, you are the utmost. Beware of the wine you made in the basement (Oh, how you would boast!) Remember the igloo you made of snow? And how you almost froze?
Rejoice, you married your high school sweetheart To be cherished like a rose. Totally oblivious, while dancing with Sue. Is that how you proposed?
Respectfully always helping others With your light-hearted approach. A+ for success in your business (Mom loved those beautiful clothes.) Yuletide trimmings, crafts galore, and wedding candles that float.
Miles and miles you have traveled near and far From the Atlantic to the Pacific coast. Okay! There’s a party at Bob’s house. He’ll be the perfect host.
Nature conspires your boat to the waters Bob, so proud and poised. Driving that small, white, hard ball. Will you make par? Yes, I suppose!
Growing red tomatoes and sweet juicy cantaloupe. (What was in that compost?) Utterly delicious and sweet, those pistachio nuts You have eaten by the gross.
Loyal and devoted to your family and friends. Whatever you do, you make it the most. Dearest Bob, I hope you remarry. Here’s to you… let’s have a toast.
Love, Dee
